Get Started with BI Validator

BI Validator is a very simple to install and get started. It typically takes less than 10 minutes.

Download BI Validator

Click on one of the download options below to start the download of BI Validator. Please contact us if you have any trouble downloading the file.

Install BI Validator

Extract the BI Validator zip file and double click on the "setup.exe" file to start the BI Validator install wizard. The install wizard may prompt for .Net framework 4.6.1 download as part of the installation. Please go ahead and install the .Net framework as prompted to complete the installation.

Login to BI Validator

BI Validator should open up automatically after the install with a login screen. The default user name / password is admin/admin which is prepopulated. BI Validator comes with an embedded repository database (firebird) for storing the test plan metadata. This repository is sufficient for most pilots. Click on the "Login" button. You will be prompted to register for the trial and select the BI tool of your preference for testing.

Connect to your BI environment

After login, click on the Add BI Connection to create a connection to your BI environment. BI Validator integrates with the BI tools such as OBIEE, Cognos and Business Objects using webservices and Rest API. It supports testing of single sigon (SSO) enabled BI environments as well using Selenium for the login process.

Start creating Test Plans

Once the connection has been created successfully, BI Validator shows the catalog tree on the left side of the window. Users can start with a test plan such as the Report Test Plan. Reports can be added to the test plan by dragging and dropping them from the catalog tree. Please refer to the use cases and videos links below for more information on the usage.
